Experienced Pascoe tough to beat

TWO times Australian Super Sedan Champion Matt Pascoe knows what it takes to win at the top level.

Pascoe has had plenty of years racing sedans and has developed his own mass produced Sweet chassis company brand out of his Ipswich race factory.

He’s also enjoyed success racing V8 Dirt Modifieds, so there’s not too much Pascoe doesn’t know about the racing game – and especially winning!

That’s what he hopes to do this Saturday  at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway when he contests a round of the Super Sedan Association season championship.

It’s ironic that on this corresponding weekend in 2018 at Lismore Showground Pascoe was the winner of the 40-lap Trevan Ford Super Sedan Classic.

He sees it as a good omen for Saturday night.

“I hope I can carry that same form into this Saturday night,” he said.

“I know I can do it again, but I am not saying it will be easy especially with the likes of Darren Kane, Wayne Randall and Justin Randall in the field. But all I can do is give it my best shot.”

Pascoe, who took out the 2012-13 season Australian title at Perth Motorplex and the 2014-15 National Championship at Tasmania’s Latrobe Speedway, has raced with Kane and Wayne Randall for many years.

They know each other well and how they race, so whoever gets the early break in traffic could turn that into a winning advantage.

The proposed race format will be six heats, each over eight laps, while the main event is scheduled over a 30-lap distance. The top six drivers from the heats will conduct an on-track draw for grid positions in the final.

The series is sponsored by Brims Concrete while the round sponsor is local Super Sedan driver Tania Smith and her Tania’s Ts merchandising company.

Wingless Sprintcar racing is also programed and there’s a close battle at the top of the leader board for honours in the Lismore Workers Club Driver to America series.

The season award is led by Jacob Jolley (245 points). However only 45 points separates the top four competitors.

Jolley is closely followed in the standings by Michael Butcher (225 points), Ben Hull (205) and Brad Claridge (195).

Racing for Street Stocks, AMCAs, Four Cylinder, Junior and Production Sedans also will be featured on the race card.
