The richest six race series in Australian Speedway history has been announced by Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway owners.
The events will be held at the peak of the 2019-20 season over the December-January high time, with over $294.000 prize money to be won — in addition to bonus points funds and awards pushing the all-up purse close to $300,000.
“We believe that this is going to be a very attractive concept for NSW teams, interstate teams and international teams alike,” Valvoline Raceway Principals Barry and Felicity Waldron said.
“We have already had interest from American and interstate teams.
“The idea of being able to race with this kind of frequency, with this kind of money and not having the added expense of travel between races is very attractive.
“We are really excited about the possibilities.”
A strong representation of drivers from New Zealand and America is anticipated.
The events incorporated into the Ultimate Sydney Speedweek will feature competition for the three premier Australian speedway race car categories, Sprintcars, Speedcars and Late Models.
Sprintcars will contest all six tournament nights with a $10,000-to-win main event at each fixture, while the Speedcars and Late Model Sedans also have three fixtures as part of the overall series, offering $3000 to the winner for each main event.
All main events will pay prize money to the major placegetters and latter finishing order.
In addition, there will be a points fund for the three sections to determine each category winner as part of the overall total purse offered.
Series rounds for Sprintcars will be held on December 26, 28, 30; January 1, 4 and 11, while Late Model Sedans will race on December 26, 30 and January 4.
Series dates for Speedcars are: December 28; January 1 and 11.
