Peugeot has revealed its first fully-electric car is on the way.

Expected in the third quarter of this year, the small SUV will be priced from $59,990 plus on-roads.

Pre-orders are being taken now, but stocks will be limited.

Except for the fact the e-2008 was actually launched way back in 2019 overseas, it might be mildly exciting.

Peugeot’s Kate Gillis said the EV is an eagerly anticipated addition to the local range as the company continues its journey to electrification.

“We are confident the e-2008 will provide discerning customers with a design-focused electric SUV and it is with great excitement that pre-orders are opening today.”

Powered by a 100kW electric motor, together with a 50kWh battery (46.2 kWh usable), e-2008 has a claimed range of 328km (WLTP).

Approximate charge times are:

  • 30 minutes from 0-80 per cent capacity with a 100kW DC charger
  • Five hours from 0-100 per cent capacity via an 11kW three-phase 16A wallbox
  • Seven hours and 30 minutes from 0-100 per cent capacity via a 7.4kW single phase 32A wallbox

The addition of the e-2008 further enhances the range’s desirability for city driving with an impressive list of standard equipment including comprehensive safety features, keyless entry with push-button start and proximity locking, gloss black and dual chrome highlights with striking feline front styling and triple claw rear LED lights.

Distinctive features include horizontal body colour coded front grille slats and exclusive e-badging on the front quarter and rear of the vehicle.

Stepping inside the cabin, the e-2008 features the signature Peugeot i-Cockpit along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Customers can choose between six colours:

  • Orange Fusion – standard
  • Nera Black – metallic ($690)
  • Artense Grey – metallic ($690)
  • Vertigo Blue – premium ($1050)
  • Elixir Red – premium ($1050)
  • Pearl White – premium ($1050)

The e-2008 comes with a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, five-year roadside assistance and also benefits from a five-year service program.
