Kia puts ‘Signature’ on smaller SUV

Riley Riley

Kia has provided a glimpse of things to come with a trio of new concepts at the 2019 Seoul Motor Show.

Of particular interest is the SP Signature, a concept that hints at the design and layout of its upcoming compact SUV, due by the end of the year.

Bold and stylish, the Signature (note the name starts with the letter S) combines sophisticated beauty, breakthrough technology, and high functionality in a smart, compact package.

It’s set to join the Sportage and Sorento, completing the company’s SUV lineup?

With a wide grille and long bonnet, and a rear design that emphasises stability with wide tail lights and body lines, Signature is sure to stand out from the crowd.

At the front, the lights are connected to the ‘tiger nose’ grille, with integrated daytime running lamps.

A strong shoulder line, with a glasshouse that tapers towards the rear of the car, lends the compact SUV an air of understated sportiness.

The look is completed with a series of distinct styling features, contributing to the contemporary, technical design.

These include thin LEDs at the front and rear, sharp lines pressed into the bodywork, and precise metallic details.

Kia says the concept previews a production-ready compact SUV due to be revealed for the first time later in 2019.

The design will also influence future models destined for global markets.
