At least Ford must think so with the release of a new variant of the Ranger utility.
The Ford Ranger Sport represents an interesting addition the line-up, with distinctive looks and equipment upgrades.
The new model sits between the XLS and XLT 4×4 models, and is offered exclusively with the proven 3.2-litre diesel that delivers 147kW/470Nm, with a choice of 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.
In its hero True Red paintwork, Ranger Sport shows off its contrasting black front grille, mirror caps, door handles and larger, 17-inch black alloys.
Sport also comes with sidesteps, a matte black sports bar and bedliner as standard.
At the back, the unique ‘Sport’ tailgate decal and black rear bumper completes the look.
Matching the black detailing, Meteor Grey, Arctic White, Shadow Black and Aluminium Metallic paintwork is also available.
Driver Assist Technology includes Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keeping Aid (LKA) with Lane Departure Warning and Driver Alert, Traffic Sign Recognition and Automatic High-beam.
Other features include dual-zone climate control, smart keyless entry and push-button start, DAB+ Radio and a dual 4.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and SYNC 3 with an 8.0-inch touchscreen that doubles as high-resolution rear view camera, as well as voice-activated satnav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Ranger Sport is priced from $52,940 for the manual and $55,140 for the auto.
