Snowballing sales of Ford Mustang suggest a lot of Aussies want one.
And, as buyers seek to customise their Mustang, to make it their own in some way, special editions are the order of the day.
None could more special than the Tickford Bathurst ’77 Special, developed in conjunction with Ford and Bathurst racing legend Allan Moffat.
Just 77 of the cars were made, all of them numbered, and Tickford’s just revealed the first of them — the one badged number one — has just come up for sale.
Tickford says this unique and very prized Mustang has been part of a private collection since it was delivered in 2017.
The price? Clears throat. A whopping $170,000 driveaway.
Tickford Bathurst ’77 Special pays homage to the Ford Falcon XC Hardtops Moffat and team-mate Colin Bond drove to a famous 1-2 in the 1977 Bathurst 1000 — thus the name.
It features a range of unique components and is engineered to provide a special and individual driving experience, with a supercharged version of the GT’s 5.0-litre V8 that produces 542kW of power and 827Nm of torque.
Build #1 is fitted with a full decal kit, including race number #1, replica rear wing and the Moffat signature numbered build plate along with build number one plaque.
Inside is a full OEM-spec leather interior with unique Tickford Bathurst ’77 Special treatment, including XC Hardtop red and blue stitching on the bucket seats, a bespoke steering wheel plus unique Moffat signature cabin badging.
The ’77 Special Mustang rides on Tickford 20-inch alloys, painted in a unique shade of gold in line with the original race car.
The car can be viewed at the Tickford Race Centre showroom and delivery can be organised for interstate buyers.
