COFFEE tables come in a vast range of styles, but none quite as intriguing as those from Rezvani’s newly-established Design House.
Rezvani is well known – mainly in the US – for its exotic high performance sports cars and its range of powerhouse SUVs, branded as Tanks.
The rugged Tanks can be had in several forms, including super-luxury models with or without military-grade protection, but the California-based auto maker has done a McLaren in offering something unrelated to its motorised products.
It’s a range of stylish coffee tables, which company says it’s ‘delighted’ to present.
But in typical Rezvani fashion, they’re every bit as bizarre as their armoured vehicles.
Each table is crafted from the same bulletproof glass used in Rezvani cars, replete with actual bullet holes from high-calibre weapons.
‘Every one is uniquely marked with bullet holes, making each unit a one-of-a-kind masterpiece,’ the company says.
‘These distinctive tables are available in an array of sizes.
‘Options range from an accent table that can add charm to your room, a ballistic glass coffee table ideal for conversations, to a grand dining table built from ballistic level 4 or Level 6 material.
The latter, Rezvani says, can also function as a protective shield.
That would be handy should your home be invaded by The Mob, aliens, or other baddies intent on perforating your persona.
‘This unique conversation piece is constructed from the same high-quality bullet-resistant glass that we utilise in the manufacturing of our vehicles, now repurposed as a striking coffee table.
‘It has been subjected to the rigorous testing of being shot with an AR-15, showing not only its durability but also its functional design that brings an intriguing element to any living space.’
(The AR-15 is the semi-automatic version of the US Army combat rifle the M16, which was an automatic weapon. It is now the most popular rifle in the US.)
‘This unique piece sparks fascinating conversations, illustrating the effects of high-calibre rounds striking ballistic glass,’ the company blurb says, adding that its design team can craft tables to fit your specific requirements and ‘harmonise with your chosen space.’
The standard tables come in small, medium and large sizes, priced at $5500, $7500 and $8500 respectively. That’s $8010, $10,940 and $12,380 in Australian folding money.
‘Your loved ones will surely appreciate this one of kind gift,’ Rezvani promises.
And they might. Especially if they ever need to take cover one dark and stormy night.
