Pikup joins the dark side

Mahindra’s black mHawk Pikup is the very first limited edition to be offered by the Indian company.

Pikup is powered by a 2.2-litre four cylinder turbo diesel with 103kW of power and 320Nm of torque, the latter between 1500 and 2800 revs.

It’s paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, plus switchable four-wheel drive and an Eaton locking differential.

Suspension is independent at the front and load-bearing leaf springs at the rear, with drums brakes for the back like most 4×4 utes.

Fuel consumption from the 80-litre tank is rated at 8.8L/100km.

Pikup gets three stars for safety.

Mahindra is planning an initial run of 50 of the “highly anticipated” special edition utes.

The black bits include decals, 17-inch rims and wheel arch flares, plus a black bull bar, black alloy sports bar and black side steps.

Other features include satnav, 6.0-inch infotainment system, single-zone climate control, automatic lights and wipers, and a reverse camera.

The tub by the way measures 1530mm x 1520mm x 550mm and it can tow 2500kg.

National Manager, Ankit Taneja said the mHawk was designed in Australia, for Australian conditions.

“We are very excited to announce that this is the first time that Mahindra has offered a limited-edition vehicle to the Australian public,” he said.

Whether it’s a night out in town or working hard on the job, the Black mHawk Pikup will seriously impress and Mahindra backs it with 5 years limited warranty and road side assist.

The mHawk Pikup is $38,990 driveaway and comes with a 5-year limited warranty and road side assistance.
