Blink and you probably missed it, but Nissan has finally added Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to its cars.
Starting with the Navara ute, the Apple and Google connectivity suites will be rolled out across the range, bringing the brand into line wirh the rest of the motoring world — well, most of it anyway.
The announcement comes without fanfare.
Nissan Navara SL, ST and ST-X grades have been updated with a new entertainment system that features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity capabilities.
The all-new Alliance In-Vehicle Infotainment (AIVI) system features a larger 8.0 inch colour touchscreen with a redesigned user interface and menu, and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto device mirroring – connected via USB cable.
The new AIVI system replaces the former 5.0 inch display screen on Nissan Navara SL models and the 7.0 inch touchscreen in ST and ST-X models, and maintains AM/FM radio, USB, AUX and Bluetooth functions.
A CD player is no longer offered.
In addition, Navara SL can now display satellite navigation via your phone, while ST and ST-X grades now get built-in TomTom nav.
