First glimpse of new Santa Fe

Hyundai has given us the first glimpse of the new, soon to be launched Santa Fe.

Set to make its world premiere in February, ahead of its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in early March, the fourth generation Santa Fe will offer a comprehensive package of the latest active safety features.

Grouped under the banner of Smart Sense, the latest technology includes an innovative and industry-first Rear Occupant Alert.

The system monitors the rear seats to detect passengers and alerts the driver if someone remains when they are exiting the car.

The idea is to prevent children from accidentally being locked in cars.

Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning has been enhanced with an automated braking function.

To avoid the risk of collision when reversing out of narrow areas with limited visibility, the system warns the driver and applies the brakes automatically.

The first Santa Fe, released in 2001, spearheaded the company’s revival, particularly in the United States where the car was a best seller.

It wasn’t until the second generation in 2007 however that the car really started to gain some traction here.

The current model was launched in in 2013.

The new Santa Fe is expected to be launched in Australia around the middle of this year.
