F-Type takes the chequered flag

Jag has released a limited edition F-Type in celebration of 70 years of Jaguar sports cars.

Based on the  F-Type R-Dynamic Coupé and Convertible, the F-Type Chequered Flag Limited Edition features a range of enhancements to the exterior and to the driver-focused “1+1” cabin.

Highlights include a Black Contrast roof on the Coupé and a luxurious Windsor Leather interior featuring Performance seats with embossed headrests, plus a Dark Brushed Aluminium centre console trim finisher.

And,  in recognition of Jaguar’s motorsport successes, it has a steering wheel with discrete Chequered Flag logo and red leather band to mark the straight ahead position.

Design director, Ian Callum, said in creating the Chequered Flag the company had focused on details which enhance F-Type’s presence and promise of performance.

In doing so, it created a fitting celebration of 70 years of beautiful, fast, Jaguar sports cars.

Power comes with a choice of engines: a 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine with 221kW/400Nm or supercharged 3.0-litre V6 in two states of tune, with 250kW/450Nm or 280kW/460Nm.

All offer a balance of responsiveness, power and efficiency — all with an engine note that reflects the F-Type’s driver-focused character.

An 8-speed Quickshift transmission is standard, with drive to the rear wheels, or the option of all-wheel drive and Intelligent Drive dynamics with 280kW models.

The R-Dynamic’s ride has also been improved, with a damper tune that has been refined, giving an improved level of ride comfort at low speed.

Prices start at $139,650 for the 2.0-litre coupe and top out at $213,450 for the V6 convertible.
