F-150 is go — here’s the price

Ford Australia has announced pricing and specifications for the highly anticipated F-150 ‘full-size’ pickup due to go on sale here in the second half of the year.

The F-150 will be re-manufactured to right-hand drive by Melbourne-based company RMA Automotive.

It will come with the standard Ford five-year, unlimited kilometre warranty and will be sold through the Ford dealer network.

The new F-150 range will comprise four variants: XLT and Lariat each with the option of short (3683mm) or long (3987mm) wheelbases.

The tray in the SWB models is 1676mm long and 1981mm in the LWBs.

All are capable of towing 4500kg.

Both F-150 models will come in 4×4 Crew Cab configuration and will be powered by Ford’s top-selling 3.5-litre EcoBoost Twin-Turbo V6 petrol engine with maximum power of 298kW and peak torque of 678Nm, coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Standard features in the XLT will include 20-inch, six-spoke machined-aluminium wheels, chrome front and rear bumpers, black platform running boards, tailgate with flexible step and work surface as well as a Tough Bed spray-on bed liner.

Lariat adds a premium mesh insert grille with chrome surround, chrome appearance package including mirror scalps, door handles, belt mouldings, tow hooks and running boards, powered twin-panel moonroof, with LED head, fog and tail lights.

Ford’s Tom Dohrmann said: “As an iconic full-size American pick-up, the F-150 is joining Australian showrooms thanks to an extensive and meticulous local re-engineering program. Together with RMA Automotive, Ford Australia earned the privilege of developing a world-first right-hand drive program for the F-150.”
