Chance to meet Mothball

Riley Riley

It’s big kids day out with a chance to meet Mothball at the first Shannons Survivor Car & Barn Find Show Spectacular on March 3 and 4.

Being held at the new Shannons showroom, located at 40 Corporate Drive, Heatherton, in the city of Melbourne, the show will feature more than 100 selected survivor cars and never before seen barn finds, as well as other unique classic and muscle cars.

In fact, you’ll get to see the one and only “Mothball’ — the Holy Grail of barn finds — for the first time.

Mothball is a Falcon XA GT that was found buried in a shed after 35 years.

Built between 1972 and 1973, the XA followed in the footsteps of the famous XY GT and GT-HO and marked the first time since the introduction of the Falcon that a two-door model was offered.

With a 5.7-litre or 351cu V8 it delivered 224kW and 515Nm of torque.

As well as Mothball there will be other unbelievable barn finds still covered in dust and cobwebs too.

Unrestored survivor cars are the perfect reference point for those restoring a car and the show is an ideal opportunity to see some very low mile original survivors as they left the factory.

The show starts at 9 am Saturday, March 3 and runs all weekend with special guests, giveaways and plenty of kid’s entertainment with jumping castles and face painting, and is an ideal getaway weekend of fun for the whole family.

Admission is $20 for adults, with kids under 16 free.

This is a great chance to take a nostalgic look at the cars we grew up with and to remember the good old days.
