MG has released an updated version of its best-selling MG ZS EV, the second biggest selling electric vehicle in Australia.

It’s also the cheapest, at $44,990 driveaway.

New battery technology delivers increased driving range, up from 263 to 320km (WLTP).

With a high powered 50kW commercial charger, it can be charged to 80 per cent capacity in as little as 54 minutes.

The revised front grille retains a practical and convenient front-mounted charging port.

Powered by a 50.3kWh, liquid-cooled, lithium-ion battery, the car delivers 130kW of power and 280Nm of torque.

The new ZS EV will also offer owners its own app-based software architecture, known as iSmart, which is backed by Amazon’s AWS cloud-based system.

This will allow owners to perform over-the-air updates, remote AC control and door locking, real-time navigation, ‘find my car’ parking lot search, live weather updates and stream audio from Amazon Music.

Both the ‘Excite’ and ‘Essence’ models come in a range of five striking colours to suit all styles and personalities: Brighton Blue Metallic; York White; Pebble Black; Sloane Silver Metallic and Diamond Red Metallic.

MG’s Peter Ciao said with improved range, smart design, superior technology and exceptional performance, the new 2022 MG ZS EV is a game changer.

“This past year has been an incredible year for MG. In 2021, sales of electric vehicles broke records and MG’s 2021 ZS EV led the charge,” he said.

“However, we would have not achieved this success without the support of our customers and we are so honoured to see Australians embracing the MG brand and the ZS EV with such enthusiasm.”

MG ZS EV will offered in two levels of trim, Excite and Essence, priced at $44,990 and $48,990 driveaway respectively.

Excite comes with 17-inch alloys, LED headlight and tail lights, reversing camera, 360-degree camera, 10.1 inch touchscreen with satellite navigation, digital radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Four-star safety includes six airbags, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, emergency lane keeping, speed assistance system, intelligent high beam control and traffic jam assistance.

Essence adds larger 18-inch wheels, synthetic leather, power adjust driver’s seat, front seat heating, six-speaker stereo, wireless phone charger, panoramic sunroof, plus blind spot monitoring and rear traffic alert.

It comes with a 7-year warranty, including batteries.
