Looks like SsangYong has had a re-think about the price of its new “game-changer” Korando which now starts from $26,990 driveaway.
That price is for the entry-level Korando EX, powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 6-speed manual tranny.
The new turbocharged four produces 120kW of power and 280Nm of torque, the latter available between 1500 and 4000 rpm.
It’s mated to a 6-speed manual or optional Japanese Aisin 6-speed auto.
A 1.6-litre turbodiesel is also available with 100kW and 324Nm.
Korando is a good looking thing.
For the entry price you gets an LCD style instrument cluster, 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, auto engine stop-start, auto levelling headlights, rain-sensing wipers and heated auto folding side mirrors across the range.
Korando gets a full five stars for safety, with features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking System (AEBS), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Front Collision Warning (FCW) and Reverse Camera across the range.
A step up the range gets you into the ELX at $30,990 driveaway, 18-inch alloys, LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Change Assist (LCA), leather steering wheel, smart key and intelligent Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA-i) with braking intervention.
The Ultimate model at $36.990 driveaway adds 19-inch alloys, a larger 10.25-inch full colour LCD instrument cluster, power sunroof and tailgate, heated front and rear leather seats, cooled front seats, heated steering wheel, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), LED front fog lights and dual-zone climate control.
As we speak there’s limited stock of ELX LE and Ultimate LE diesels currently available.
EX 1.5L Turbo Petrol Manual and Auto, ELX 1.6L Turbo Diesel Auto, and Ultimate 1.6L Turbo Diesel Auto will be available early in the new Year.
New Korando is covered by SsangYong’s industry-leading 777 Customer Care Package with 7-year unlimited kilometre warranty, 7-year roadside assist and 7-year service price menu which is offered to both private and fleet customers.
