At more than $100,000 on the road, there’s just one thing missing from the new Nissan Patrol — that’s a V8.
The new Y63 Series Patrol sees the coveted V8 supplanted by a twin-turbo V6, but one that produces more power and torque than the eight.
The 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 produces 317kW of power and 700Nm of torque, through a nine-speed automatic transmission.
In comparison the V8 is good for 298kW and 560Nm — six percent less power and 25 per cent less torque, with peak torque available earlier in the rev range.
It incorporates a scavenger oil pump that Nissan says maintains lubrication on steep inclines and off-camber terrain.
And, yes, it also boasts an increased towing capacity — up 200kg to 3700kg.
Nissan says the new Y63 generation is the most advanced, most capable and most refined Patrol yet.
With a more rigid chassis, it has advanced new suspension systems, a more powerful drivetrain and substantial upgrades to in-cabin technology including Klipsch premium audio and Google built-in and Google Gemini AI.
The line-up spans six grades: Ti, Ti+, Ti-L, Ti-L+ and Ti-L Reserve, alongside the off-road-focused PRO-4X.
“The all-new Patrol gives Australian customers more choice than ever before, with a range that spans family comfort, genuine off-road capability and new levels of refinement,” Nissan’s Steve Milette said.
“From the Ti through to the Ti-L Reserve, and with the PRO-4X bringing a new level of off-road capability to the Patrol range, every grade delivers more power, technology, comfort and capability.
“It’s a Patrol designed to meet the needs of more Australians, whether they’re touring, towing, tackling the outback or simply looking for a spacious premium family SUV.”
The all-new Y63 Nissan Patrol represents a step-change for the nameplate, both in occupant comfort and in breadth of capability.
The entry level Ti, priced from $98,990 plus on road costs, includes:
