Orders open for new Cayenne

PORSCHE has opened the order books for its new Cayenne, arriving in Australia in a couple of months.

The three-model range of the sports SUV starts with the Cayenne, priced from $116,300, the Cayenne S from $155,100 and then it’s a big jump to $239,400 for the Cayenne Turbo.

Based on the concept of the iconic 911 sports car, the Cayenne has a new design, new eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox, new chassis systems, innovative display and control concept with total connectivity plus active aerodynamics take sport and comfort to the next level.

Under the bonnet of the standard model is a 250kW/450Nm turbocharged 3.0-litre V6.

The Cayenne S is powered by a bi-turbo 2.9-litre V6 that puts out 324kW/550Nm while the Turbo is driven by a 4.0-litre V8 with two turbochargers, generating 404kW and 770Nm.

The extra muscle has improved acceleration and top speed.

For what it’s worth in our ‘speed kills’ society, the Cayenne accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and achieves a top speed of 245 km/h.

The Cayenne S can get to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds and on to a top of 265km/h, and the big Turbo can stop the sprint to 100km/h in 4.1 seconds and run to 286km/h.

The third edition of the model has mixed tyre sizes and optional rear-axle steering for the first time.

Standard fare in Australian models will include Park Assist with surround view, and Lane Change Assist as standard.

The S and Turbo models also come with a panoramic sunroof and the Turbo specs include ambient lighting, seat ventilation and four-zone climate control.
