There has been a lot of talk about the “new” Jaguar.
So, I’m not going to add too much to what’s been said.
Just this.
What disappoints me is not the advert, nor the hype.
It is that Jaguar has been too cautious with their new styling direction.
Take a look at these comparisons.
Almost every element of the “new” Jag’s styling can be found in cars that have appeared before.
The wheel arches are pure 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado.
The curved front end is Cadillac Sixteen concept, the roof and rear shape is a blend of Kia Stinger and Cadillac Celestiq.
The new Jag should have been bolder!
More extravagant!!
Jaguar claims it is returning to its roots, recapturing its original ethos to ‘Copy Nothing’.
The new Type 00 is described as: “A fearless statement. An object of desire. A concept with bold forms and exuberant proportions to inspire future Jaguars.”
The company’s first ‘reimagined’ production car will be an electric four-door GT, to be revealed in late 2025 and built in the UK.
Jag once “owned” the soft curving lines that covered their grace, space and pace.
From a distance you knew it was a Jag.
From what I’ve seen so far, this new Jag looks like everything else.
