Raise a glass to the Mazda MX-5 which is celebrating its 35th birthday.

More than three decades after its debut, a limited-edition has been commissioned to mark the occasion, together with a handful of updates for 2025.

Based on the G20 Roadster GT, the Mx-5 35th Anniversary Edition is finished in triple-layer Takuminuri Artisan Red, complementing a beige soft top and bespoke 17-inch alloys.

The interior features tan nappa leather, combined with beige carpet and floor mats.

The headrests carry 35th anniversary logos.

The 35th Anniversary Edition is powered by a 2.0-litre high-revving, naturally aspirated four cylinder engine that produces 135kW of power and 205Nm of torque, and is paired with a six-speed manual transmission.

Amping up the fun is is track-developed DSC-TRACK mode that offers a pure driving experience by lowering the intervention threshold and allowing an element of oversteer.

Enhancements to the rest of the range see the G20 Roadster offering a combination of cloth and suede upholstery for better driving support, along with a soft-touch Maztex centre console and armrests and body-coloured door trim.

GT grade becomes the entry point into the retractable fastback (RF) models, while the remainder of the lineup remains unchanged.

In addition to the Artisan Red customers can choose from Soul Red Crystal Metallic or Machine Grey Metallic premium paints.

There’s also Snowflake White Pearl, Deep Crystal Blue Metallic, Aero Grey Metallic or Jet Black Mica.

The MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition goes on sale in January and is limited to a total of 50 units for the Australian market.
