Mustang Mach-E — the price and the pain

Ford Australia has released full specification and pricing for its new fully-electric Mustang E-Mach SUV, due here in the final quarter of this year.

The first production Ford developed from the ground up to deliver pure-electric, zero-emissions driving will come in three variants: Select, priced from $79,990 plus on-road costs, Premium from $91,665 and GT from a three-figure $107,665.

Select and Premium are both rear-wheel drive, GT is all-wheel drive.

Select features a 71kWh battery and single electric motor that delivers 198kW and 430Nm, with a range of up to 470km (WLTP).

Premium gets a larger, 91kWh,battery also with a single electric motor that generates 216kW and 430Nm, with an increased range of up to 600km (WLTP).

While the performance-focused, all-wheel drive GT, also has a 91kWh battery — but two electric motors, one for each axle.

It puts out 358kW and 860Nm, with a range of up to 490km (WLTP).

That 860Nm is the highest torque output for any production Ford road vehicle ever offered to customers in Australia and can propel the vehicle from 0-100 km/h in just 3.73 seconds – making it Ford Australia’s fastest accelerating vehicle.

The Mustang Mach-E GT also features unique tyres that are specially designed to distribute the extreme torque to the road surface.

Bespoke GT specification includes Ford Performance front sports seats, standard 20-inch alloy wheels and unique body styling.

Mustang Mach-E Select and Premium have both earned the top five-star ANCAP safety rating. GT is yet to be tested.

Seven colours will be available. Shadow Black is a standard paint colour, while all others are prestige paint that comes at an additional $700.

The Mach-E is part of Ford’s ongoing electrification strategy that will see at least five new electrified vehicles by the end of 2024.

This year Ford Australia has already launched the E-Transit full-electric commercial van, with the fully electric E-Transit Custom and Puma to follow later in the year.

Details are live on the Ford Australia website and orders reservations can now be placed at www.ford.com.au or at an authorised Ford EV dealership.
