Lexus TZ EV a veritable rolling lounge

Lexus has taken the wraps off a new fully electric SUV called the TZ.

The three-row six-seater has been designed around the concept of a Driving Lounge, an elevated mobility space that brings a smile to every occupant.

It aims to seamlessly blend a relaxing cabin environment with the dynamic driving performance characteristic of Lexus.

Forged Bamboo, a decorative material made from Shikoku bamboo, adorns many of the interior’s surfaces, supporting the preservation of traditional Japanese techniques.

The forthcoming TZ has been adapted from the soon to be launched electric version of the Toyota Kluger unveiled in February.

A dedicated platform and a simple, open plan design create a spacious interior where all occupants can relax regardless of seating position.

Lexus has also refined its signature quietness and thoroughly enhanced the vehicle’s dynamic performance, aiming to deliver both the smooth ride quality unique to BEVs and the joy of driving.

TZ’s design pursues the dual goals of sculptural beauty and aerodynamic excellence.

While maintaining the powerful presence of an SUV, it achieves top-class aerodynamic performance among Lexus SUVs, which contributes to its impressive driving range.

With two electric motors TZ produces 300kW of power and an undisclosed amount of torque.

It is powered by a 95.82 kWh battery pack with drive to all-four wheels, and a 0-100km/h time of 5.4 seconds.

DC charging at a maximum rate of 150kW takes 35 minutes from 10 to 80 per cent.

Range is 530km under the WLTP standard.
