LDV ute goes the extra distance

Riley Riley

LDV is claiming bragging rights with its new T60 Mega Tub ute.

Ateco which imports the Chinese ute claims the T60 Luxe Mega Tub offers the longest wheelbase and longest OEM tub in its class, aside from the monster RAM 1500.

It’s longer than both the Ssangyong Musso LWB and the upcoming VW Amarok XL.

Priced from $34,990 driveaway with a manual transmission, for ABN holders – it’s just $1500 more than the regular T60.

An auto adds $2000 to the price.

“Size matters and by bringing the T60 Luxe Mega Tub to market we’re broadening our offering in the most
competitive segment in Australia,” LDV Automotive General Manager, Dinesh Chinnappa, said.

“It’s clear owners want a vehicle that blurs the lines between weekend lifestyle and week-day workhorse.”

To quantify the new offering, Mega Tub has an extra 315mm in the wheelbase plus 275mm in the tray, with a total tray
length of 1800mm.

It means bikes can stand upright and a typical 6 foot tradie ladder fits neatly in the back.

Mega Tub comes standard with an inner tray liner, while hard lids and roller tops will also be available as an option.

Of note Mega Tube receives the same suspension package as T60 and top of the line Trailrider model, which is now the standard suspension tune for the Australian market.

Importantly, the T60 also receives five stars for safety from ANCAP , with six airbags, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear On Demand Differential Lock, Keyless Entry and Start, leather trim seats, and a 5-year/130,000km warranty.

The LDV T60 Luxe Mega Tub will be available from December.
