Genesis’ G70 sports sedan has had a change of clothes, with some changes under the skin too.
Most notable are the striking signature Quad Lamps, featuring super thin LEDs, that bring the design into line with the rest of the lineup.
The plunging Crest radiator grille gives the car are more aggressive stance underscoring its sporty DNA.
The new look will help to differentiate G70 from its cousin the Kia Stinger, though the Stinger is larger and a liftback.
G70 retains the familiar long hood and short front overhang, making it look fast even when it’s standing still.
Four all-new wheel designs further enhance its presence, with a new air vents positioned behind the front wheels — replacing the previous gills shared with Stinger.
A Parabolic Line adds an elegant touch to the design.
Signature Quad Lamp tail lights can be found at the rear, with prominent Genesis lettering across the boot.
Dual exhaust tips and a body-coloured diffuser add the finishing touches to the updates.
A total of 14 exterior colours will be offered, including two new metallic options and three matte finishes.
Sedona Brown and Tasman Blue are the new metallics, while Verbier White, Melbourne Grey and an all-new exclusive colour, Bond Silver, make up the matte-finish options.
The new G70’s driver-focused cockpit benefits from a number of useful improvements as well.
A larger, wide-view 10.25-inch touchscreen is positioned for easy reach at the centre of the dashboard, and features a Genesis user interface and over-the-air navigation updates.
The instrument cluster is also enlarged to provide better readability and the wireless smartphone charger provides improved charging speed.
Finally, windshield and front door acoustic glass enhances interior quietness.
G70’s proven turbocharged, 179kW 2.0-litre four and twin-turbo 272kW 3.3-litre, V6 carryover from the previous model.
All models benefit from the newly added “Sports+” drive mode, which further optimises engine and transmission programming, allowing drivers to take full advantage of the car’s performance potential.
In addition, the 3.3-litre V6 with Sports package benefits from the addition of a Variable Exhaust Valve System which gives the car a more aggressive exhaust note, and a new Dynamic AWD System offers a built-in drift mode.
The new G70 sports sedan arrives in the first half of 2021.
The Australian model line-up and specification will be announced closer to launch.
