Isuzu has come to the rescue of the life saving movement with the donation of D-Max and MU-X utes and SUVs.
But with 315 Surf Life Saving Clubs across Australia, competition for close to two dozen vehicles could well be fierce.
A spokesman for Isuzu, however, says the company is working with clubs to get them into the new D-MAX and MU-X.
Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) has been responsible for saving more than 600,000 lives since it was established 114 years ago, with some 10,000 rescues each year.
“For Isuzu Ute Australia, there could be no better way of giving back than by supporting SLSA and the brave men and women who keep our beaches safe,” Isuzu Managing Director, Hiroyasu Sato, said.
The D-MAX and MU-X will serve surf lifesavers as patrol vehicles and on the road as they travel the country delivering important training and education to members.
From rescue-ready vehicles to providing mobile patrol services and as a tool in promoting beach safety, the vehicles will increase the capabilities of surf lifesavers and lifeguards in day-to-day duties.
Surf Life Saving Australia president, John Baker said it is with the support of these vehicles and partners like Isuzu Ute Australia that makes its mission in patrolling and protecting beaches that much easier, allowing them to focus our attention to the safety of our beach-goers.
Isuzu and Surf Life Saving Australia will partner for the next three years and look forward to flying the iconic red and yellow flags that symbolise safety, across patrolled beaches nationwide.
