Genesis releases hot GV60 Magma

Hot and ready to flow Genesis has introduced the GV60 Magma.

It’s the company’s first high-performance production model and the flagship of its all-electric GV60 range.

Priced from $130,000, Magma is the first vehicle to embody Genesis’s long-term vision for Luxury High Performance.

Technologies including Virtual Gear Shift, Drift Mode, and High-Performance Battery Control, deliver an engaging and immersive driving experience.

A wider stance, lower ride height, sculpted front and rear bumpers, front canard wings, forged alloy wheels and a winglet-style rear spoiler give it a distinctive motorsport-inspired presence.

“GV60 Magma marks a milestone for Genesis as our first high-performance production model and the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the brand, with electrification as a key enabler,” Genesis’ Justin Douglass said.

“GV60 Magma establishes the foundation for our future Magma portfolio, providing the blueprint for blending dynamic performance with the luxury, refinement and technology that set Genesis vehicles apart.”

Magma is available in a single highly equipped specification featuring an 84 kWh battery and all-wheel drive.

In boost mode maximum power is 478kW while maximum torque is 790Nm, catapulting the car from zero to 100km/h in 3.4 seconds.

Top speed is 264km/h.

Magma is a tangible expression of the Genesis Magma design philosophy, which emphasises the presence of subtle, untapped power.

At the front, a signature three-hole bumper, featuring a broad air inlet and lift-reducing canard wings, emphasises the dynamic presence, while a black emblem adds a polished touch.

Aerodynamic side skirts mirror the front design with three-hole detailing, while gloss black finishes on the window frames and exterior moldings further enhance the streamlined aesthetic.

Forged 21-inch alloy wheels in graphite gray matte reinforce Magma’s distinctive identity and are wrapped in 275mm Pirelli P Zero tyres, which underpin superb steering precision and cornering performance.

A exclusive rear spoiler features a winglet-style design that enhances aero characteristics while conveying a powerful sense of motion, to add presence to GV60 Magma’s silhouette.

A bespoke rear bumper design combines the body colour with black accents and is underscored by a lower diffuser engineered for optimal aerodynamic performance.

Magma is offered in hero Magma Orange, along with Uyuni White, Saville Silver, Makalu Grey, Vik Black, Tromso Green and Ceres Blue.

Three matte colours – Matterhorn White, Makalu Grey and Ceres Blue – complete the palette.

The seats, door trims and centre console are upholstered in premium suede-like Chamude, while GV60 Magma’s distinct colour identity is showcased through orange and gray stitching, quilting details and seat belt detailing.

A Magma-exclusive steering wheel incorporates a unique rim design, a black emblem, and orange accents on the drive mode and boost buttons.

Gloss black and dark metal-finished buttons, switches and emblems complete a composed and elegant interior ambience.

The car features Obsidian Black Mono upholstery with a choice of Magma Orange or Ash White stitching, paired with black brushed aluminium trim garnishes.

Three drive modes are offered: Sprint, GT, and MY. In MY Mode, drivers can apply custom settings for the electronic limited-slip differential (e-LSD), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and other performance parameters illustrated here.

Suspension has been optimised and enhanced compared to other GV60s, with re-calibrated roll centres and refined geometry.

With the benefit of Stroke-Sensing Type Electronic Control Suspension (ECS) and End-of-Travel (EoT) control systems, it delivers a superb balance of cornering stability and ride comfort.

In addition, Hydro G-Bushings in the front suspension and dual-layer bushings in the rear crossmember reduce the transmission of impacts and vibrations.

Magma is equipped with a braking system equal to the demands of its high-output electric powertrain and optimised regenerative braking control.

Large 400mm disc brakes, monoblock calipers and high-performance Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control work in concert to produce enough stopping power to, in just 33.8 metres, bring the vehicle to a full stop from 100km/h.

Drivers can also select their preferred braking feel, as different parameters correspond to the different drive modes:

Comfort Mode provides a smooth, linear response with an initial free stroke area for everyday driving
Sport Mode eliminates the free stroke area and increases hydraulic control for immediate, powerful responsiveness suited for the track

Braking power is also increased by approximately 15 percent at high speeds in Sport Mode, delivering an enhanced level of confidence and control.

Magma features a dedicated digital interface designed to make the driving experience more immersive.

Activating ‘Magma Mode’ transforms the instrument cluster into a classic three-circle dial layout, prominently displaying essential driving data, including motor and battery temperatures, speed and G-force.

In addition, the Head-Up Display provides a simplified view of key information such as speed, regenerative braking level and remaining boost time.

The infotainment system also supports an array of Magma-exclusive high-performance driving features such as the Virtual Gear Shift system (VGS), Drift Mode, and High-Performance Battery Control (HPBC).

Virtual Gear Shift system fine-tunes motor output, torque, and regenerative braking to mimic the gear shift feel and dynamics of a high-performance combustion-engined vehicle, while reproducing high-revving engine sounds, for an immersive, emotional driving experience.

When both VGS and HPBC are engaged, the cluster also presents clear performance insights through a performance timer and a pedal input level display.

Drift Mode combines specific power-distribution and e-LSD control strategies to support rear-wheel-focused driving, while HPBC maintains an optimal battery temperature for peak performance during racing or drag driving.

Next-generation smart regenerative braking brings upgraded features for enhanced usability, drawing on map data, traffic flow, and navigation information, to optimally adjust the regenerative braking force.

A 27-inch wide OLED display is the centrepiece of the cabin, integrating the instrument cluster and infotainment system to intuitively present maps, navigation, ADAS information, and phone mirroring.
