Volkswagen is offering an exclusive launch offer of a free home EV charger, including standard installation, to the first 500 customers who purchase an ID.4 Pro or ID.5 GTX electric vehicle.
This takes the already ultra-competitive recommended retail pricing of ID.4 Pro ($59,990, plus on road costs) and ID.5 GTX ($72,990, plus on road costs).
The 7kW home EV charger, plus standard installation – which includes up to 20m cabling, safety switch, circuit breaker, and installation by a certified installer – is valued at $1899.
It brings an added, substantive level of peace of mind to the EV ownership experience that comes from Volkswagen Group Australia’s On EV program and series of partnerships — for example with Ampol.
Both the ID.4 Pro and ID.5 GTX offer extensive support with 100 dealers nationwide, charging available at 90+ dealers, 24-month service intervals with Care Plans, and discounts on home and on-road charging via Ampol and On EV.
Volkswagen’s Arjun Nidigallu said the inclusion of a free home charger adds a significant element to the strong value proposition that Volkswagen has previously touted.
“We’ve recently talked about how hard we’re driving to achieve the best position for ID.4 and ID.5,” Mr Nidigallu said.
“The inclusion of a home charging solution for customers is yet another example that demonstrates Volkswagen’s ongoing commitment to making BEV ownership easy – with greater assurance and accessibility thanks to our partners Ampol and Volkswagen Group Australia’s On EV program.”
VW says with up to 544km WLTP range, the ID.4 Pro exceeds the full charge EV range of comparable rivals.
With outputs of 210kW and 545Nm, it features rear-wheel drive, Sport electronic stability control (ESC) function, 19-inch alloy wheels, Adaptive Chassis Control adaptive suspension and progressive steering.
Zero to 100km/h in 6.7 seconds is three-tenths of a second faster than the Tiguan 162TSI.
The current Tiguan 162TSI R-Line is $60,590 (plus on road costs) with comparable equipment, reinforcing Volkswagen’s simply better level of choice – choose ICE or BEV, at around the same price.
The GTX meanwhile boasts a range of 522km WLTP, and delivers 250kW, with the sporting prowess of 4MOTION all-wheel drive.
Zero to 100km/h is dispatched in a brisk 5.4 seconds.
Standard equipment includes IQ.LIGHT Matrix LED headlights with adaptive high beam, 3D LED rear lights with dynamic indicators, keyless access, power tailgate, panoramic roof with electric blind, ArtVelours microfleece upholstery, power adjustable front seats with memory and massage function, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, tri-zone climate control air conditioning, 12.9- inch infotainment with App-Connect and Area View 360-degree camera.
Highly acclaimed for its secure and unobtrusive driver assistance technology, Volkswagen’s Travel Assist combining Adaptive Cruise Control with active Lane Assist is also standard, along with Side Assist, Emergency Assist, oncoming vehicle braking when turning and swerve support, proactive passenger protection system and front/rear parking sensors.
Mode 2 and 3 cables are included, with GoConnect app connectivity providing functions such as live technical status, state of charge and vehicle location.
