Ford has reportedly extended production of the limited edition Bullitt Mustang.
The bad news is, that according to Ford Australia, we won’t be getting any more of the cars, limited to 700 examples for the Australian market.
That’s okay if you already have one of these beauties because it only adds to the value of the car.
If you don’t, you’re out of luck — because they’ve all sold out.
The price? $73,688 plus on roads.
The special edition celebrates the 50th anniversary the iconic film Bullitt starring the late Steve McQueen, with one of the all-time great car chases — this one between a Ford Mustang driven by McQueen and Dodge Charger with one of the a ‘baddies’ at the wheel.
The chase scene starts at 1h:05m into the film and runs for a total of 10 minutes and 53 seconds, if you’re in a hurry — or you could just watch the whole film.
The Bullitt Mustang is the most powerful version of Ford’s best selling pony car offered for sale here to date.
All 700 of the cars are individually-numbered and they’re all Fastbacks finished exclusively in Dark Highland Green with six-speed manual gearbox and gloss-black 19-inch alloy wheels.
The Bullitt is powered by a 345kW/556Nm 5.0-litre V8, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission with Rev-Matching.
True to the car that made its name in 1968 film, the body of the car remains devoid of badges.
Torq-Thrust style black 19-inch alloy wheels, Red Brembo brake calipers and chrome window trim enhance the modern good looks.
Inside, each example carries an individually-numbered plaque, cue-ball style gear-knob and Bullitt badging.
With four modes, the Active Valve Exhaust lets you move from subtle to sledgehammer, as well as individual Drive and Steering modes.
