3) Super Mario Odyssey
2017 is the year Nintendo stormed back into the market as a major player. Not only did it release the superb Switch, but also the big N hit some serious home runs on the software side of the equation. Super Mario Odyssey is arguably the best Mario game to see the light of day since the seminal N64 debut in the 90s. Not only does the new game feature some diverse and colourful levels, but Mario’s hat “Cappy” can be flung at enemies, allowing Mario to control them, which is very cool. If you thought Mario games were for kids, you should try out this excellent offering which could have, in any other year, taken out the top spot in our countdown.
