Chicer sleeker ES spearheads Lexus lineup

Riley Riley

A chicer, sleeker Lexus ES is set to spearhead the next generation of Lexus battery-electric powertrain technology.

Inspiration for the exterior was drawn from the next-generation LF-ZC BEV concept, which embodies a bold presence expressed through refined minimalism.

The flowing silhouette, sharply tapered rear and ideal proportional relationship between body and tyres gives the new ES a lower and sleeker look, with a lower body shape accentuating a low centre of gravity to generate a powerful and dynamic stance.

With the newly developed TNGA GA-K platform, the new ES supports both hybrid (HEV) and battery-electric (BEV) powertrains, offering a wider range of electrified vehicle choices.

The vehicle height was carefully determined to accommodate underfloor battery placement while preserving interior comfort, providing the foundation for proportions that capture the ES’s most beautiful and expressive form.

While maintaining spacious cabin comfort and practical cargo capacity, the ES features a sculpted body top and side profile, along with precisely contoured front and rear bumper corners.

These refinements not only enhance aesthetics but also contribute to improved aerodynamics.

On HEV models, a slim upper grill is added to ensure cooling performance.

The look inspires the latest iteration of the Spindle Body design.

As a new design icon for the next generation of Lexus vehicles, the Twin L-Signature Lamp is adopted.

The inward-facing daytime running lights and outward-facing turn signals form a double signature that enhances the unique Lexus identity while also improving the visual clarity and functionality of the turn indicators.

The rear of the new ES embodies its signature elegance with a sculpted flow.

In addition, the rear body angle and bumper surface taper are carefully optimised to enhance aerodynamic performance, contributing to improved fuel efficiency and electric power consumption.

The L-Signature Lamp at the rear makes the new ES instantly recognisable as a Lexus.

Seamlessly integrated with the illuminated Lexus logo, the single light bar consolidates tail light and stop light functions, while repositioning other lighting elements to the outer edges.

Positioning these elements lower and further outward emphasises the vehicle’s wide stance while improving aerodynamic performance.

The goal in designing the cabin was to achieve an outstanding sedan package.

The TNGA GA-K platform was re-engineered from the ground up, with key structural elements redesigned.

Compared to the previous ES, overall length is extended by 165mm and wheelbase by 80mm, allowing for a more spacious cabin.

The panoramic roof features an adjustable dimming function that allows for instant shading based on passenger preferences.

To create a cabin experience that feels like a living room, the front passenger seat is equipped with features such as an ottoman, vanity mirror, and dual monitors.

Rear seat occupants will also enjoy new levels of comfort with a seat relaxation function using air bladders embedded in the cushions which gently press from the thighs to the back.

The rear seat package also includes seat reclining, an ottoman, and a full-forward folding front passenger seat, all of which work together to create an even more spacious and relaxing environment.

Both HEV and BEV grades will be offered locally, with the lineup and features to be confirmed ahead of the new model’s introduction in 2026.
