Black is black for hit ASX

“Black is black,” sang the Spanish pop group Los Bravos.

“I want my baby back. I want my baby back. It’s grey, it’s grey since she went away.”

The song was the first ever international hit for a Spanish group and the ASX has been an equally big hit for Mitsubishi which has just announced a Black Edition of Australia’s best selling SUV.

Based on the entry-level ES with a CVT transmission, the ASX Black Edition is equipped with styling enhancements as well as specification upgrades usually reserved for the top-spec ASX.

Exterior enhancements include gloss black alloys, door mirrors and front skid plate, a chrome exhaust tip, front fog lamps, privacy glass and an integrated indicator in the side mirrors.

Inside Black Edition sports aluminum pedals, carbon fibre pattern on the centre panel, leatherette bolsters with micro-suede seating and red stitching accents on the steering wheel, gear shift knob and park brake lever.

Specification upgrades include rear parking sensors and smart key with a one-touch start feature usually reserved for the top-spec model in the range.

Limited to 1000 units the ASX Black Edition is priced from $25,490 — oh, and as well as black, it’s available in Starlight and Titanium.
