Benz and the colour black go together like vegemite and toast, so it’s hardly surprising to see a special “black” edition of the new X Class ute break cover.
The Edition 1 X 350 d 4MATIC variant will be released in July, with only a limited number available.
How many Benz is not saying.
The Edition 1 will be available in three different colours: kabara black, bering white or rock grey (all of them metallic).
The add-ons are all black, however, with a black centrally positioned star and twin-louvre radiator grille, front and rear bumper-bar valance, fog light surrounds, side door handles, rear tailgate handle, nomenclature badges, beltline trim strip, roof rails and 19-inch 6-twin-spoke alloy wheels.
In a first sports stripes will be added to the bonnet, side mirrors, V6 badge surrounds, lower side lines and rear tailgate.
In kabara black, all exterior parts and stripes are a high gloss finish, with the sports stripes appearing in grey for contrasting impact.
In bering white and rock grey, a matte black finish is applied for all exterior parts and stripes.
The black styling bar and tubed side steps give the Edition 1 an even sportier and more progressive character.
Combined with a tray liner and colour coded hard tonneau in the vehicle colour, the standard Edition 1 equipment helps get the job done whilst giving it a distinctive look and appeal.
Visual highlights in the interior include floor mats with Edition 1 embroidery and a chrome Edition 1 badge on the passenger side dash.
Standard leather heated seats are included, along with rear privacy glass and an electric rear windowpane.
The Edition 1 is based on the X 350 d POWER variant, powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine that produces 190 kW of power and 550 Nm of torque, with 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system and low range reduction gear.
The Edition 1 X 350 d 4MATIC is priced at $87,500.
