Little Tiggo with big ideas

Riley Riley

Chery brags its latest addition the Tiggo 4 Pro is the best value, turbo-powered compact SUV in Australia.

There are two versions available, Urban from $23,990 drive-away and Ultimate from $26,990 driveaway.

Entry urban comes with LED headlights, 17-inch wheels, cloth trim with manually adjustable seats, two-zone climate air, acoustic control windscreen, auto wipers, rear air vents, push-button start and walk-away locking.

Twin 10.25-inch screens are provided for the driver and infotainment, housed within the same sweeping instrument panel, with four-speaker audio, DAB+ digital radio, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus Hello Chery voice-activation.

For another $3000 Ultimate adds a sunroof, synthetic leather, larger 18-inch alloys, power-fold mirrors, heated front seats and six-speaker Sony audio.

Both of the Chery tiddlers are powered by the same 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with drive to the front-wheels through a CVT-style automatic.

The four cylinder engine is good for 108kW of power and 210Nm of torque, better than its direct competitor the MG ZS (84kW/150Nm).

Fuel consumption is a claimed 7.3L/100km.

Tiggo 4 Pro comes with a 7-year unlimited kilometre warranty, 7-year capped price servicing and up to 7 years of roadside assistance.

Interestingly, the Tiggo 4 Pro isn’t quite an all-new.

Dating back to 2017, it’s also marketed as the Tiggo 3 and Tiggo 4, as well as being sold overseas as the Tiggo 5x.

In Italy it is rebadged and sold by importer DR Automobiles as the DR 5.0.

Tricky. Not to mention the fact that there’s also an all-electric variant called the Chery Tiggo e available in China (surely that’s the one we should be getting?)
